Before starting Karda Solutions, Matt spent over 20 years in commercial real estate development, construction, and law where he was involved in +3.5M square feet and +$2B of real estate projects throughout Silicon Valley and Northern California.
Most recently Matt was the founder of both Epoch Realty Co. and Insight Realty, which focused on improving the built environment in core Silicon Valley markets through meticulous execution of thoughtfully designed infill developments and the adaptive reuse of existing structures.
Prior to starting Epoch Realty Co. in 2009, Matt was a Senior Vice President of Development at Foster Enterprises, the family owned company that built Foster City in the 1960s. And before that Matt spent four years as a corporate securities and real estate lawyer—first at one of the top global business law firms in Palo Alto and then moving to a regional transactional practice with a specific focus on serving sophisticated commercial real estate clients in Silicon Valley.
Before attending college and law school, Matt joined the Marines at the age of 17 and spent six years on active duty in the intelligence and security fields where he participated in the liberation of Kuwait with Task Force Grizzly during Desert Storm in 1991, served with Joint Task Force Six during counternarcotics operations in the Southwestern U.S., served as a U.S Embassy security guard in Ethiopia and Switzerland, and completed extended deployments in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia.
Matt earned his law degree from U.C. Hastings in San Francisco and his B.A. from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Matt lives in San Mateo, California in the home where he and his wife of 26 years raised their four children. When not creating finance solutions for his clients, he can be found skiing, mountain biking, boating, and various other outdoor activities across the western United States.
